At the International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) from 13th to 16th September 2016, Pyroban will be spreading the word about safe materials handling in potentially explosive environments as a test partner for the RTITB International Forklift Operator of the Year competition.

The contest takes place once every three years and aims to celebrate the most skilled and safe forklift drivers from around the world. In a bid to qualify for the grand final of the 2016 competition, 40 top counterbalance lift truck drivers will compete in a series of thrilling live challenges at IMHX at the NEC in Birmingham, UK.

Sponsored by Pyroban, one of the practical tests will be the “Explosive Mixer” and has been specially designed to test the skills needed for forklift operation in, or near to, a potentially explosive environment. The challenge will test contestants’ ability to operate safely within a restricted area and manoeuvre safely around obstacles. In the test, competitors will use a forklift truck fitted with added safety system Gascheka™ to fetch a barrel and return it to a ‘whiskey distillery’, navigating through a series of highly flammable obstacles along the way.

Safety is of the utmost importance to Pyroban, which provides explosion protection solutions for materials handling equipment used in potentially explosive work environments.
