On Sunday 12th June, a team from leading safety company Pyroban braved the elements to compete in The Great Sussex Bath Race, raising £574.50 for charity.
Teams from companies all over Sussex, UK, gathered near Chichester to take part in the annual competition, now in its fourth year. On the day of the event, each team of six was given a bathtub and a range of different materials with which to construct the best raft. Despite a rainy start to the day, the teams then bravely took to a private lake on their rafts to compete in several different heats, paddling 250 yards per race – getting rather wet in the process.
Although it was a hard fought competition, the Pyroban team, assembled from staff based at the company’s offices in Shoreham by Sea, did not make the Grand Final and missed out on the winner’s trophy. However, the event was all in aid of a good cause and overall has already raised more than £11,000 for Sussex-based charities Chestnut Tree House and LifeCentre.
