For many years, Pyroban has supported STEM Sussex and the IMechE by attending careers fairs and events in local schools to promote the benefits of careers in engineering to young people.
The object of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) initiatives is to inform young people of the wide range of interesting career opportunities available.
Pyroban, based in Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex is keen to contribute to the community and attract talented students to fill demanding and fulfilling engineering roles.
Inspiring the next generation of Engineers
To help younger generations to better understand the potential opportunities available, Marco Holt, Pyroban Senior Mechanical Engineer, participates in various S.T.E.M. activities.
Marco recently visited Balfour Primary School in Brighton, East Sussex to give a motivating presentation, highlighting the benefits of a career in Engineering, followed by an exciting car build and activity.
During his time at the school, Marco spoke with over 100 students in Year 6 (age 10 – 11) who will soon be making the transition to secondary school.
The presentation was a great success meeting school curriculum objectives. Feedback from parents and teachers was very complementary. One child even asked “Why doesn’t everyone want to become a Mechanical Engineer?”.
Working with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
Marco, who is based at Pyroban’s site in Shoreham, UK, is a S.T.E.M. Ambassador with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and STEM Sussex, which works in partnership with businesses and schools across the region, to help school children make informed subject and career choices.
